‘Home is the hero…’
This was a great occasion meeting up with Eugene Courtney, from Lower Killala Road who was home on holiday from Canada. Myself and Ambrose OShea spent the day with Eugene. I gave him the Royal Tour of Cabra West, taking in Finbar’s School, the church, Dickie Rock’s house, the Deaf School on Ratoath Road, the Bogies, the canal and of course the Cabra Baths. Well, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that the craic was ninety. It’s probably 50 years since I last saw Eugene and many thank’s to Kevin Kennerney, also living in Canada for putting me in touch with Eugene. And of course the stories were flying out of us all and the lies were great too…
