This is my grand-daughter Chloe who lives in Lahinch in County Clare. Chloe invited me to attend her First Holy Communion day last Sunday. The local church in Lahinch overlooks the beautiful bay with its golden sandy beach. The sun was sparkling on the water below as surfers bobbed up and down on thier surf boards. Inside the church was packed to the rafters with parents and grandparents eager to see their little angels standing proudly in white or dressed in a little suit with collar and tie. The children sang and belted out each song as if God himself was standing amongst them. The whole scene brought back many wonderful memories to me of my First Holy Communion in the little Convent Chapel in Cabra West. There were four generations of Chloe’s family present on her very special day. I was clicking away like a lunatic with my camera. Chloe asked me for a copy of my first book about growing up in Cabra West because she wants to know what things were like in the ‘old days’. Thank you Chloe for making me a part of your very special day.
