This is a very early photograph of one of the original fireplaces that were in the kitchens of most of the houses in Cabra West, mainly the parlour houses. It was made from cast iron and painted black. The two doors are where the oven was. On each side of the fireplace there was a flat hob for placing a kettle or pot on.
