This is the final moon of the old year 2009. It is a partial lunar eclipse. This is what’s generally known as a ‘Blue Moon’. The photo was taken on the dot of 8pm Thursday 31st December 2009. This is the first lunar eclipse on New Year’s Eve in more than 350 years. The last eclipse of the moon on New Year’s Eve was in 1656 and the next one isn’t expected for another 200 years. So out with the old and in with the new. A very special Happy New Year to you all and may you continue to connect and re-connect with family and friends on the Cabra History.Com website…MC

I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy Christmas and a health filled New Year. I sincerely appreciate all of the continued support you give to the Cabra History.Com website. I hope it has brought back many happy memories to you and has in some small way helped you to recall the families and friends of your childhood. I’d especially like to thank all those who supported me when researching and compiling information, stories and photographs for my second book which was published this year. A BIG thank you to those of you who supported the Cabra Reunion Night which was also held this year. You were part of the history of Cabra because this was possibly the first time such an event of this kind was held on such a large scale. I look forward to the challenges of a New Year and the future growth of this site.
