A fire broke out in the premises of New York Cleaners in Abbey Street a couple of days ago and gutted the entire premises. The cleaning business here has been on the go quite a long time now. Thankfully no-one was hurt or killed.

Mater Hospital

Believe it or not this is the site where the Mater Hospital Nurses Home once stood. Do you remember the tall red brick building facing onto the North Circular Road directly across from Mountjoy Garda station? Well now it’s gone, demolished and is being replaced by a more modern building. I’m not sure what this new building will be used for. Another part of old Dublin bites the dust.

Eamonn Sheridan in his mothers arms with brother Jim & Dickie Rock at the door

This is Eamonn Sheridan in his mother’s arms. Standing at the gate is his big  brother Jim. The young lad standing at the hall door is the one and only Dickie Rock. Eamonn and Dickie both sang in the church choir in Cabra West.
