A Happy New Year 2010

This is the final moon of the old year 2009. It is a partial lunar eclipse. This is what’s generally known as a ‘Blue Moon’. The photo was taken on the dot of 8pm Thursday 31st December 2009.  This is the  first lunar eclipse on New Year’s Eve in more than 350 years. The last eclipse of the moon on New Year’s Eve was in 1656 and the next one isn’t expected for another 200 years. So out with the old and in with the new.
