Cabra to Korea…

Published by at 11:33 pm under News

This is Christopher Mulhall from Upper Killala Road in Cabra West. He was a member of the Royal Ulster Rifles. He died in action in Korea in 1950. Six hundred British soldiers took on a force of 30,000 Chinese troops. Christopher and his fellow soldiers were greatly outnumbered and surrounded on all sides. Their commanding officer left them in no doubt that they had only minutes left to live. He suggested that instead of waiting for death to come to them that they should charge the enemy and go down fighting. And that’s how it ended for a young lad from Cabra West. Christopher’s story was never made public until it was written about in my book ‘Tell Me A Story’ in 2013. A special ‘Thank You’ to his grand nephew for the photograph…
