Ken Dodd…

Published by at 1:28 am under News

Ken Dodd of ‘Diddy Men’ fame came across the name of Tony O’Gorman and his poetry so he requested a signed copy from the author. Tony sent off one of his books and Ken Dodd sent him back a photo of Doddie holding Tony’s book. So I thought it appropriate to share this little story with you all.

Ken Dodd was born in Liverpool in 1927. His father was a Coal Merchant and Ken originally began his working life in his father’s business. At 75 years of age Ken Dodd is still going strong and still appearing on stage and television. He has had a great career and was made an honorary fellow of The University of Chester on 4 November 2009, having been awarded the honorary degree ofDoctor of Letters at a graduation ceremony in Chester Cathedral. His doctorate was presented by Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster. He was awarded a Doctorate of Letters at Liverpool Hope University on 25 January 2010 during the University’s Foundation Day celebrations. So I now propose that we make Ken Dodd an honoury member of the Cabra History.Com website because of his connection with one of the greatest poets to come out of Cabra, Tony O’Gorman. All those in favour…
