I met with Willie Lynch and his sister Patty this morning. Willie is home from New Jersey, USA for a short visit to see his family. Patty had arranged to meet up with her old school pal Olive. I had Willie and Patty in my car and I brought them on a tour of Cabra West. We drove past the old convent school and turned up onto Ventry Park. Onto Carnlough Road and turning right up along Broombridge Road. We then took a left turn at the old turf depot onto Kilkieran Road and made our first stop outside Saint Finbar’s School where I took a photo of Willie standing outside the front gate.

We then drove to Attracta Road where the Lynch family once lived and from there down past the Cabra Grand. Past Dickie Rock’s old house on Dingle Road and stopped at the old Capitol Stores for Patty to get her packet of fags. Here I took a photo of Willie at a post box.

We ended up at the Halfway House where we met Olive for lunch.

We had a great old chat over lunch. I think this is a day that we will all remember with great fondness. Now while I think of it, the next Cabra Reunion will be held in October of 2013, more details to follow…MC
