‘In 2007 I wrote my first book “A Time of Innocence”, about growing up as the middle child in a family of 15 children in Cabra West. On the success of this book I came up with the idea of starting up a Website based on the theme of the book, mainly to cater for all those hundreds of people who had emigrated to foreign shores and who might be interested in re-connecting with their past Cabra West lives. It was also for others who no longer lived in Cabra West but who might have an interest in it. The positive response to both my book and the Cabra History.Com website was unbelievable. People began sharing stories with me and sending me photographs of their families that were taken years ago. Some even asked me to include their photos and stories in any other books I might think of writing, which I did. Towards the end of 2007 I received an invitation from Dublin City Libraries asking me to give a presentation to other History Groups from various parts of Dublin and to talk about the success of both my book and my website. I later received a letter from Dublin City Libraries, which I still have, thanking me for the presentation and stating that it was the most successful presentation of 2007. And that’s how it all started…’
